(1) Foodie Tour of Savannah

As foodies, we love the opportunity to taste our way around new cities. Savannah is one of our favorite foodie cities. You will find something for everyone, from classic southern cuisine to delectable plant based food, indulgent bakeries and more. We recommend planning your own foodie tour of Savannah by exploring a few of our favorite spots to grab brunch, dinner or dessert.

(2) Explore City Market and Broughton Street

Savannah is filled with many small shops and boutiques featuring unique culinary offerings. Stop by The Paris Market for beautiful decor, French pastries and more! A few of my other favorite shops include the Savannah Bee Company, Marche de Macarons, Byrd’s Cookie Company and Chocolat by Adam Turoni. Exploring the shopping district is a great way to spend the afternoon and enjoy a taste of Savannah!

Bryd’s Cookies offers free samples so don’t miss their location in City Market. My favorite are the Key Lime Coolers.

(3) Enjoy a Picnic in Forysth Park

Explore the many beautiful parks and squares located in Savannah. The largest park, and also our favorite, is Forsyth Park. Walk the one square mile path around the park to burn off calories or pack a picnic lunch from Back in the Day Bakery or Fork and Dagger Eatery (we highly recommend both). Find a spot on the beautiful green located just steps from the iconic Forsyth Park fountain. We really love starting or ending every day in Savannah with a visit to the park. We stay at the Lady Gwinnett vacation rental property in Savannah which is located only two blocks from the park.

(4) Explore the Savannah Historic District

Savannah is a city with rich history and a beautiful historic district. You could easily spend the entire weekend exploring the historic homes and parks. Many of the historic homes and sites are open to the public. Even on a rainy weekend, Savannah is a great place to take a walk through history.

(5) Stroll River Street Savannah

River street is located on the Savannah River. Restaurants and shops line the street. We love walking along the river and always stop in to grab a sweet treat at River Street Sweets. We usually grab a praline or two and then climb the steps back to Bay Street. It’s a great walk and the steps are a bonus workout, especially if you do them a few times!

(6) Rent a bike or take a bike tour

One of our favorite things to do in Savannah is to rent a bike for the day and stop at a few of our favorite spots in our Foodie’s Guide to Savannah. Due to the close proximity to our Savannah vacation rental, we typically rent from Savannah on Wheels. They have guided tours in addition to bike rentals. But, we love to explore on our own. If you prefer a self-guided tour at your leisure, ask them to provide you with a tour map (like the one below.) They will provide tips to avoid busy roads and must-stops along the way.

(7) Visit all of the squares in Savannah

There are currently 22 squares in Savannah. One of the reasons we like to do a bike tour of Savannah is because we have the opportunity to see all of the squares easily. Each of the squares in unique and they are a great place to stop, relax and enjoy the city.

(8) Wormsloe Plantation

The Worsloe State Historic Site is located a short drive from downtown Savannah. The Wormsloe oak avenue is probably the most photographed area at the park. It’s a long driveway lined with live oak trees. The site is rich with history and a great way to explore the outdoors. With various walking paths, this park is a great way to get outside of the city and learn about the surrounding area.

That’s it for now!

Our favorite things to do in Savannah are on this list, but there are many other things to do in Savannah. We also enjoy the trolley tours, ghost tours and museums.
