Experience a taste of Phoenix, Arizona and the surrounding area with some of my favorite foodie hot spots! Don’t miss Bink’s Midtown restaurant, Talavera restaurant, the Chocolate Tour of Scottsdale and more!
Phoenix is a foodie hot spot hidden in the middle of the desert. I recently spent a week in the Phoenix area and visited some incredible restaurants and shops featuring fresh local ingredients and unique flavors. This list doesn’t even scratch the surface of the many places to find amazing food in Phoenix and the surrounding area. Hopefully it will give you a taste of what you can experience in the desert.
Here are my five recommend spots to experience a taste of Phoenix:
(1) Bink’s Midtown
I could go on and on about how much I love Bink’s Midtown. The location is centrally located and the food is fresh and flavorful. Every single item I’ve tried at Bink’s is worth ordering and you will find something on the menu for everyone. Just when I thought I found my favorite dish, the next dish I tried was even better.
I love that Bink’s is a casual spot for lunch with a beautiful indoor and outdoor dining space. Chef Binkley knows how to create a fresh, seasonal menu that highlights simple flavors to create a unique meal. I highly recommend the Made to Order Mozzarella, Grilled Dates, and Roast Beef Sandwich. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. If there is only one restaurant to experience on your visit to Phoenix, I highly recommend Bink’s Midtown.
(2) Talavera Restaurant
Talavera Restaurant is located at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. The Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale is a beautiful property and Talavera Restaurant does not disappoint. The outdoor patio is my favorite place in Scottsdale to enjoy beautiful valley views. Chef Mel Mecinas and his team focus on using the best locally sourced ingredients. On my recent visit to Scottsdale, I went behind the scenes in the kitchen of Talavera as part of the Four Seasons Chef for a Day program. Speaking with the chefs and learning about how they source their ingredients gave me a better understanding how they create incredible meals. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at Talavera but I recommend the tasting menu. Don’t forget dessert too! You wouldn’t want to miss the delectable sweet treats that Executive Chef Lance Whipple creates in the kitchen.
(3) Sweet treats at Liberty Market
Speaking of sweet treats, Liberty Market is a sweet little spot in the town of Gilbert, Arizona located just outside of Phoenix. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but I love the sweets at Liberty Market. Enjoy dinner at Liberty Market or one of your favorite restaurants in Gilbert and then enjoy cookie sandwiches, donuts and an espresso bar.
(4) Virtu Honest Craft
I read great things about Virtu Honest Craft before my recent visit to the Phoenix area and was excited to actually experience the menu. Virtu is everything that I love about local restaurants. It is quaint, relaxing and fun. Both the bar menu and regular menu choices are excellent. I love that many of the options are small plates so you can order a few different plates to share. The menu changes with the season depending on what type of ingredients are available. Grab some friends, order a few small plates and enjoy the quaint, relaxing atmosphere at Virtu.
(5) Chocolate Tour of Scottsdale
Did someone say a chocolate tour? Yes, I did! You do not want to miss the Chocolate Tour of Scottsdale. The tour guides you through the streets of Scottsdale to sample chocolate in all different forms including truffles, cupcakes, ice cream and more. Have you ever tried a Liege Waffle? It is a special waffle from belgium that you can find at ChocoladeVanBrugge, a Belgian chocolate shop featured on the tour. Chocolate lovers will be in heaven on this tour. It is a great way to spend the afternoon, sample some chocolate and learn a few fun and interesting facts about Scottsdale.
Even if you don’t have time to do the full tour, I highly recommend stopping by a few of the local shops on the tour.
Other restaurants that are worth a visit include True Food Kitchen, Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn, Vincent’s on Camelback, and Postino East Wine Cafe. Do you have a favorite Phoenix area restaurant or shop? Leave a comment so that I can make sure to visit on my next trip to Phoenix.
